Mr. R.W. Hutton, my assistant, made short prospecting trips in the neighborhood of the reef south-west of Tanami and near the black hills north-east of Tanami. He also made an extended trip eastward in unexplored country. He reached 80 miles east of Tanami, but found no new mineral-bearing areas. Some fine pastoral country was passed over and a large swamp discovered — possibly the termination of Lander Creek, which rises in the Buxton Ranges westerly from the Teattree Well, on the overland telegraph line. (Gee 1911:12)80 miles east of Tanami RH is about 19°50'S 130°57'E See 'Fresh water swamp (approx) / August 1910' spanning 20°S 131°10'E on Map at end of Gee 1911.
Mr. L.C.E. Gee, S.M., in a report to the Government on the Tanami goldfield, ....With thanks to Darrell Lewis, who gave me a copy of the clipping in Nov 2005.
On his trip eastward from Tanami in the new country, Mr. Hutton saw some excellent pastoral land carrying Mitchell grass and saltbush; and near the point where he turned southward, 80 miles east of Tanami, he estimated that in one block there was an area of 500 square miles of good country.
